Free Camping, Ship Shape Weekend #27

Free camping in exchange for help with our spring chores. Everyone is welcome to share…paint, build, rake, tend the fires, cook, organize and celebrate our wonderful community!

The schedule proceeds generally like this rain or shine:

Thursday or Friday drive in during daylight hours and choose a campsite. Friday night join us for pizza at the art studio…bring toppings to share and a beverage of your choice…we’ll have the dough ready for custom creations.

Saturday start the day with homemade doughnuts and coffee while we divide up the chores based on what you like to do. We’ll break for lunch…hopefully a BBQ at the beach if the weather is conducive. Dinner’s pot luck and a trivia game.

Sunday and Monday we tie up loose ends, eat leftovers and massage tired muscles.

More questions? Call us at 207 548-6059 or email us and we’ll save you a site relax@campocean.com

June 26- September 13th

Wednesdays at the Shores

Let’s celebrate community and creativity! Guided music jam sessions, free tables to sell your crafts and farm produce, pizza slices from our wood fired oven. Everyone’s welcome

June 24 – September 1st

Camp and Create

When you come camping, we want you to step away from your day-to-day life and fully immerse yourself in our world…the tide pools, gardens, goats and honeybees. We hope that you’ll lose track of time and forget what day it is. As a family of craftsmen, we’ve always believed that making something with your hands relaxes both your mind and your body. So we built an art studio and every week during the summer there’s an artist in residence to share his or her passion. There’s no cost to you (except possibly a small materials fee or an occasional opportunity for a private lesson) and the program is open to all campers.

September 4-8, 2019

Fiber College of Maine

The largest Fiber Arts education gathering on the East Coast. Classes on everything fiber: knitting, crocheting, weaving, spinning, fiber preparation, rug hooking, quilting, lace making, wood working and more. Always the week after Labor Day in Searsport Maine…at the beach, amidst the organic gardens and under the stars.

Welcome all players and listeners that appreciate old time and bluegrass music to a weekend of playing, learning, sharing and listening with some of the best old time players in New England.

Vacationland Bluegrass Jam Camp has teamed up with the Old Time Campout to create a joint Old Time and Bluegrass Event: Strung Together, A Fine Old Time on Penobscot Bay. The Campout is held at one of the most beautiful outdoor jam spaces on the planet in Searsport, Maine.

A Combined Old Time and Bluegrass Event

You asked for it, we deliver: jams, Jams, JAMS! Guided slow jams, intermediate and advanced jams, workshops, concerts and much more!  Designated spaces will be laid out for each camp, with unlimited spots to hold you own jam.

Workshops and jam sessions are being offered this year in a more spontaneous fashion.  Volunteer workshop and jam leaders will post their offerings on the big marker board in the middle of the camp. Discount offered to all music leaders (please consider giving a workshop or leading a jam during the weekend).

The weekend will feature a concert featuring Nate Paine and the Mudslingers followed by a called square dance in the new music barn!… plus a do-it-yourself concert/coffee house on Saturday night following the musicians Potluck Supper.

Our special guest teacher is the amazing, multi-instrumentalist Steve Roy.  We are honored to have Master Old Timers including George Fowler, Art Bryan, Jeff Titon, James Hyland, Bill Smith, Emily Jeffries and Baron Collins-Hill join us for the weekend.

“A Fine Old Time on Penobscot Bay”
