Back to History- Floating Across the Penobscot Bay

Remember the last log runs on the Kennebec River when thousands of logs were transported on the water, floating singularly or cabled together in large piles.  Well this technique was not lost on this The Little Spruce Island Project when they chose to move some hemlock boards from Viking Lumber across the Penobscot Bay.  Check this out:

Although not like the Great Penobscot Log Drive of a hundred years ago that destroyed about everything along the river including the Bangor to Brewer bridge, this floating group of boards made it to their final destination fully intact. Now the only concern is to get the hemlock nailed up before it dries.
