Exploring Unique Activities at Maine Campgrounds | GoRVing.com An article about us!

Jeff Crider wrote an article on GoRVing.com about how we came to own a campground 30 years ago and the activities that happen here in the park. We landed on his radar screen when he was researching the kinds of activities that are offered in campgrounds across the country. We greatly appreciate the attention and perhaps more importantly, truly enjoyed learning what Jeff had to share during our conversations about his years observing the industry and the time he gives so generously to those in less fortunate situations.

Much of our side conversations touched on economics, politics and the world views of our camping population. As the spectrum of campgrounds in the US & Canada takes a new shape (lots more corporate owned parks that lean towards amusement centers and more absentee ownership with homogenized experiences), mom & pop campgrounds are becoming increasingly rare jewels across the campground landscape. Did you know that when you spend $100 in a locally owned business $68 stay within the community of the purchase (I like to think that we all take the other $32 to spend in your community when we travel). This is important! I heard on a TED talk that every dollar spent with a small artisan is worth $11 to the local economy…wow!
Anyway, I digress into a topic far larger than the scope of this little post. We are grateful for all who chose to come and play with us and if you’d like to read the full article, just click here .
