History Lecture
On Tuesday, June 8, at 7 p.m. at Curtis Hall on Church Street, Charlene Knox Farris will give her first talk since being named the official historian of Searsport.
The topic is one she has been researching for the last three years, called “Searsport’s Wagon Train.”
This presentation will cover the town of Searsport during the decade following incorporation, the 1850s, and tell the story of a large group of citizens who banded together to face a difficult cross-country journey to the wilderness of Iowa, where they would help to establish a brand new town. Who they were and why they went has been a subject of local conjecture for many years. Come and be among the first to hear this new and interesting piece of Searsport history.
