Setting the Stage
The iris’ love the cool weather
When we’re not in our cabin in the ocean tenting area, we live in the middle of the campground. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is look out of my bedroom window into the gardens, goat pen and studio. When I go to bed at night, I look out the other window towards the ocean as I close the curtains.
This morning at 6:30 I looked out and saw a mom and two children feeding the goats some fruit, a man heading into the art studio to work on his wood carving before the artist in residence settled in for the day, a family photographing their children with the Beatrix Potter statue in the bunny garden, and a dad pushing a baby carriage, leading a dog on their way back from the dog park. Our job is to set the stage for the vacation, your job is to create the memories.
The Hoag family arrived on Sunday…the first to stay in our new Honey Bee Bunkhouse…if we could have hand picked the first family to stay in our newest pride and joy, we couldn’t have chosen better…here’s the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Norma’s been sifting all the worm castings that were created over the winter. All of the gardens have now been planted. We’re harvesting salad, strawberries & garlic scapes this week
The goats are on temporary poison ivy control
Like most of the East, we’ve had days of rolling storms, spots of sunshine and moments of wind. None of the weather seems to last very long so it doesn’t dampen the excitement around here. On the upside, the temperatures have hovered around 75 degrees during the day and 60 degrees at night so we’ve been sleeping well and even if the rain is falling, it’s comfortable to sit under shelter and read a good book. Over the last couple of days, I’ve been walking around snapping pictures…this is what our world has been all about.
