The Sun was Out this Morning!

p5170082.jpgWe woke to sunshine today…after a long cold spell of rain and drizzle.  The boys ended up chipping after all this weekend but I spent most of my time inside the heated store trying to set up the displays…and I’ve still got a ways to go.

Saturday morning during a break in the rain, Dad and Ip5170083.jpg went to the inauguration celebration of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge…about 15 minutes from here.

We were invited to  ascend the tower before it was open to the public because of Dad’s volunteer work with the Bucksport Chamber of Commerce.  Even on a cloudy day the view was spectacular.   The first photo on the left shows the p5170084.jpgapproach from Stockton to Bucksport.  The second photo is the explanation at the scenic turn off, the third photo is taken from the top of the observation tower looking towards Bucksport and the last one is looking downp5170085.jpg the river towards Searsport and eventually the open sea.  Without reservation I suggest a trip up the tower combined with Fort Knox as a wonderful way to spend an entire day…pack a picnic lunch and bring a flash light.
